Watch these games

  • Tennessee at Pitt (3:30 p.m. on ABC)

It’s a style-versus-style clash in Pittsburgh as the main event of the 3:30 slot. Tennessee runs plays at a pace so fast that it’s difficult to replicate, while Pitt has gone to more heavy sets on offense.

So, what will give? It’s tough to tell, but Pitt still has a passing game, as Kedon Slovis threw for 12.8 yards per pass attempt. Meanwhile, Tennessee’s third-down defense still needs work from last Thursday, so that matchup could be interesting to watch play out.

Still, though, the Vols are favored by a touchdown against the Panthers.

  • Appalachian State at Texas A&M (3:30 p.m. on ESPN2)

Everyone saw the chaos last Saturday afternoon, as Appalachian State had two chances to win a stupendously spectacular back-and-forth contest against North Carolina. Ultimately, their efforts were unsuccessful, but they became legends because of the sheer gall they showed against the Tar Heels.

Texas A&M had a quieter week, beating Sam Houston State 31-0. Although the Aggies are a 17-point favorite, this game could be an upset special, should miracles happen.

Keep an eye on these games

  • Washington State at Wisconsin (3:30 p.m. on FOX)

Wisconsin is getting slept on a bit this season, which is wild given that place has a metronomic program. On the other side of the ball, there’s a legit playmaker in Cameron Ward at Washington State, but the Cougs looked wobbly against the Vandals of Idaho last week.

  • Houston at Texas Tech (4 p.m. on FS1)

Houston comes into Lubbock with a big win, taking down UTSA on its quest to become state champions. But, in the Cougars’ way this week is Texas Tech.

Tech, meanwhile, has offensive coordinator Zach Kittley, and Kittley has the Red Raiders throwing like the days of yore. Although they’ll be without Tyler Shough due to a shoulder injury, Texas Tech tosser Donovan Smith should be a capable replacement.

  • Iowa State at Iowa (4 p.m. on Big Ten Network)

What terrible, criminal act of football will Kirk Ferentz use to beat Iowa State this time?
