Week 2’s College GameDay location will be the Lone Star State for the Alabama vs. Texas matchup. Who will be the celebrity guest picker?

The best part about College GameDay every week has to be the end of the show right before kickoff when the celebrity guest picker comes out and joins Lee Corso and Co. for the predictions.

For Saturday’s edition of the show in Austin, Texas, for the Alabama vs. Texas game, ESPN chose someone who has been on the big screen recently.

Unlike Week 1’s guest picker for the Ohio State vs. Notre Dame game, the celebrity choice for the College GameDay crew in Week 2 actually has ties to the hosting school.

“Hangman” from Top Gun: Maverick, Glen Powell, will be the picker for Saturday morning’s show and it’s fitting since he went to Texas and grew up in Austin.

Some fans may not like the pick because Powell isn’t exactly a household name, but he was just in one of the most popular movies of the year and his ties to Texas just make sense. It’s nice to see College GameDay go back to its roots and choose guest pickers based on their ties to the hosting school.

Powell has an acting career that dates all the way back to 2003 and if you asked Ohio State fans, they’d probably tell you how jealous they are that Texas got a celebrity with ties to the school — even though Jack Harlow is incredibly entertaining (he’s a Louisville fan).

You know everyone will love Powell on Saturday when he’s the only GameDay picker who predicts a Texas win over Alabama.
