Texas A&M Football: 3 takeaways from depressing loss to App State

2. It’s time for a quarterback change
I have been a notorious Haynes King supporter, despite his lack of showing on any level for the Aggies in the three games that he has played fully. I thought that due to horrid offensive line play, King looked horrid. However, it is obvious after this game that I was wrong. He showed that he is unable to really hit his receivers when they’re open and he cannot seem to stop himself from either fumbling or throwing an interception at least once per game.
Overall, the offense put up seven points and even that was thanks to Devon Achane, to who you can credit the other seven points as well. Now, it is time for Max Johnson to have a chance. At this point, it cannot get worse for the Aggies than what they saw on the field on Saturday. There was a lack of heart and a lack of desire to win from the maroon and white and that is unacceptable.
Jimbo has been quoted as saying that they considered a quarterback change today, but they didn’t have enough possessions to do so. I believe that is just utter bull, there is no reason that he couldn’t have given Johnson a go at the end of the game before the utterly horrible field goal attempt to tie the game. What do you have to lose there?
