We watched Oregon go from No. 11 in the country to unranked in just one week thanks to a blowout loss to the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs. The Ducks looked overmatched and not ready for the big stage, but they bounced back against Eastern Washington in Week 2 and Bo Nix looked like QB1 again. Dan Lanning has a bright future ahead of him in Eugene.

Pitt snuck by West Virginia last week which now looks like a less impressive win after the Mountaineers’ loss to Kansas at home. And this week the Panthers lost to No. 24 Tennessee at home in overtime and lost Kedon Slovis in the process. I still think Pitt is ranked but their standing in this AP Top 25 is about as solid as water.

How often do you see a team go from unranked to ranked after losing a game? Well, Texas impressed everyone on Saturday afternoon, looking like the better team between the Longhorns and the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide. If Quinn Ewers doesn’t go down with an injury in the first half, we may be talking about a convincing Texas win. The Longhorns are a top 25 team.

Notre Dame probably shouldn’t be ranked after its performance against Marshall on Saturday afternoon but the brand will keep it at No. 22, or so. Tyler Buchner and Co. looked better in an opening road loss to Ohio State than it did against the Thundering Herd from the Sun Belt in a home opener loss. Notre Dame is now 0-3 under Marcus Freeman.

Everyone was looking forward to the return of Sam Hartman in Week 2 and he didn’t disappoint. He had 300 yards and four touchdowns on 18-of-27 completions in a comfortable road win over Vanderbilt. The Commodores are better this year than they’ve been in years and you wouldn’t know by how easily Hartman and the Demon Deacons handled them.
