Just like we saw a complete overreaction to Florida winning against Utah in the opener, we’re going to see a similar one with Kentucky beating the Gators in Week 2. Was Florida really the 12th-best team in the country? Probably not, but voters are going to gas this Kentucky win up like crazy and probably shoot the Wildcats up close to the top 10.

I’m actually going to go ahead and predict that AP voters will rank the Wildcats right at No. 10 with the win which is fair because it was a solid road win in the SEC over a top-15 team but I wasn’t sold on Florida’s Week 2 ranking.

Mark Stoops becomes Kentucky’s all-time winningest coach with the win and Will Levis’ stock is on the rise. Kentucky did all of this without a key player in the backfield and that’s probably the most impressive aspect of this win.

That and the fact that the defense stepped up for a crucial pick-six in the second half which really put the game away.

A great win on the road by Kentucky, no doubt, but let’s chill on the hot takes.
