College Football Rankings 2022: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 3
Oklahoma got off to a really slow start on Saturday night against a bad Kent State team before cruising to a blowout win that pretty much everyone saw coming.
Dillon Gabriel continues to look the part of a top-tier Big 12 quarterback and it’s going to be tough for defenses to stop him and Marvin Mims all season long. The two connected plenty on Saturday night as the Sooners ran away with the win late in the second half following a boring 7-3 start in the first half.
The Sooners clamped down defensively and even after the slow start, the game never seemed or felt like it was in doubt. Oklahoma looks like the best team in the Big 12 so far this season, but there’s a long way to go.
It’s fair to say that Brent Venables has been the most impressive first-year coach thus far after this 2-0 start even though it’s been against lesser opponents. The Sooners should be knocking on the door of that top-five after jumping Texas A&M.
