Appalachian State at No. 6 Texas A&M (-18)

Why do college football powers even schedule App State anymore? Haven’t they learned their lesson?

The answer is no and Texas A&M football got another lesson as the Mountaineers knocked off the sixth-ranked Aggies 17-14 in College Station.

It was strange because App State lost to North Carolina 63-61 a week ago and you thought if anything, this game might turn into a shootout. But the Aggies just struggled to stop the run and Chase Brice barely threw for over 100 yards.

Yet, the Mountaineers racked up 181 rushing yards compared to just 89 for Texas A&M football.  The Aggies also turned the ball over twice and Haynes King was flat-out bad.

King completed just 13-of-20 passes for 97 yards, which is under five yards per attempt. Not only is that putrid, but he also threw two picks and the offense finished with less than 200 total yards.

Soon enough, the seat is going to warm up for Jimbo Fisher. The Aggies have had one double-digit win season with him at the helm and this loss is the worst of his tenure. Patience is wearing thin and it’s probably time to see what five-star freshman Conner Weigman can do.
