Mickey Joseph (+700, 12 percent implied probability)

Too many people are counting out Mickey Joseph, the interim head coach. He made a splash this week by pulling the Blackshirts from players and Trev Alberts said on the local radio that he expected the Huskers to play very, very well this week.

Does that mean that Nebraska will beat Oklahoma? That would be wild, but it’s Nebraska, so expect the unexpected. Mike Riley couldn’t beat anybody. But somehow, his team with a losing record beat third-ranked Michigan State, which was undefeated back in 2015.

Crazy things happen and if the Huskers are able to pull an upset Saturday, and get to 7-8 wins, Joseph will have a strong case to make for keeping the job.

The Huskers already know he can recruit. He’s the only reason they have a shot at elite in-state talent Malachi Coleman and if Joseph isn’t hired or retained on staff, you can almost guarantee Coleman won’t be a Husker.

That’s not a reason to keep a job but if Joseph can salvage this situation and get the Huskers to a bowl game, what else does he need to prove?
