2. BYU football played well against Baylor, a better team than Oregon

The Cougars had a really tough home matchup vs No. 9 Baylor last week and were able to outlast them in overtime 26-20.

They did so without two of their top offensive weapons: Puka Nacua (ankle) and Gunner Romeny. These two wideouts were BYU’s leading returning receivers. These two receivers combined for nearly 1,400 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns.

If BYU was able to hold their own offensively, with a depleted receiving corp, imagine the options they’ll have if both of these exceptional players are available to compete vs. Oregon.

Nacua is so explosive when he has the ball in his hands. Look no further than the end around the Cougars ran in Week 1 that allowed the speedster to notch a 75-yard run for a touchdown in Week 1 vs. South Florida.

Romeny has not played in a game during the 2022 season, yet. However, that may change vs. Oregon.

Nacua and Romney are “a game-time decision” against Oregon, according to BYU receivers coach Fesi Sitake.

If one or both of these guys are able to compete against the Ducks, BYU will have a huge advantage on offense and become that much harder to contain.
