Penn State football faces Auburn this Saturday in one of the best matchups of Week 3. This will be the first time a Big Ten team travels to Jordan-Hare Stadium. Just a Big Ten-SEC regular season matchup being such a rarity adds to the intrigue.

Last season Penn State got the best of Auburn 28-20 in a fantastic matchup before a raucous White Out crowd. This time it is time for Tiger fans to return the favor. The team has called for an Orange Out. Just like last year when many Auburn fans made the trip north, Penn State fans will also travel in numbers to experience this intraconference battle.

While it will be harder to win on the road, Penn State has some advantages over Auburn that should lead them to victory.

Let’s highlight three reasons why the Nittany Lions defeat the Tigers.

3. Penn State football is battle-tested already

Penn State is going on the road for the second time in three weeks. Their first trip was to Purdue, where the Lions pulled off a 35-31 thrilling victory.

While the SEC has some fantastic stadiums with raucous environments, the Big Ten offers many venues with similar atmospheres. Purdue’s Ross-Ade Stadium may not be quite as loud as Jordan-Hare Stadium but in a prime-time game as it was for Week 1, Boilermaker fans served up a hostile environment.

The Nittany Lions drove 75 yards on their last drive to score the game-winning touchdown against Purdue. They know what it takes to win on the road in an electric atmosphere so the experience will help at Auburn.
