Washington football has a huge Week 3 matchup against No. 15 Michigan State and an opportunity to put head coach Kalen DeBoer’s Huskies on the college football map in prime time on Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

This is just the second time Michigan State has ever played the Huskies in Seattle — the other time being in September of 1970, according to Washington’s game notes.

So that, coupled with the fact that the Spartans are one of the top-ranked teams in college football, makes this a really intriguing matchup.

Let’s dive into why the Huskies have a good shot at upsetting Michigan State this week.

3. Washington football will use dynamic roster to its advantage

This is going to be an uphill battle for Washington, despite playing the game being played at Husky Stadium.

Of the 114 players on the roster for Washington, 82 of them have three or more years of eligibility, giving DeBoer a great foundation in which to construct his football team.

On the other end of the spectrum, the Huskies have 18 players who have started at least one college football game on offense and another 18 who have started at least one game on defense. And, the team boasts 12 players who are in the final season of their college football eligibility.

So, while the team, overall, has a lot of inexperience, there are just enough veterans on the squad to make sure the young fellas know how to be prepared and win big games such as this.
