Mickey Joseph isn’t it

Mickey Joseph still has eight games as the interim head coach, however, his first game couldn’t have gone worse. The Huskers were competitive in Norman last season and on Saturday, they weren’t. They were totally demoralized.

People need to quit talking about bowl games. As Jim Mora once said, Nebraska needs to win a game. That’s going to be tough enough in the Big Ten conference. And as much as a like Mickey (I hope he stays on as WR coach) the Huskers need Urban Meyer or someone of that ilk.

If it takes $11 million to get Mark Stoops to leave Kentucky, so be it. I would give whatever blank check is needed for a coach like that or to Meyer if he was interested. We know Trev Alberts planned on meeting with him at some point via CBS Sports.

It’s not clear if Meyer is a candidate or if Trev is seeking advice, like how to build the recruiting machine Meyer built with the Buckeyes.

That’s a good place to start.

Nebraska needs a Lincoln Riley-type hire. That’s the bottom line and unless Trev Alberts is able to deliver, the program is going to suffer through a decade of darkness.
