Saturdays feel much more normal again with College GameDay on the screen the second we wake up and college football on for the rest of the day.

If you’re anything like me, you tune in to College GameDay first thing in the morning and plant yourself in front of the TV for about 12 hours, watching the noon slate, the 3:30 p.m. ET slate, the primetime games, and then I cap it all off with some Pac-12 After Dark.

Usually College GameDay picks a pretty popular game between a couple of ranked opponents, but with the schedule for Week 3 being relatively vanilla, the crew is headed to Boone, N.C., for App State vs. Troy.

The Sun Belt rivalry game may not get a ton of love normally, but you have to give it up to the GameDay crew for giving the Group of Five matchup some respect.

With GameDay in Boone on Saturday, will there be a celebrity guest picker tied to App State?

Who is College GameDay’s celebrity picker for App State vs. Troy?

The answer is yes, GameDay is actually giving App State fans a celebrity with ties to the school as the guest picker on Saturday afternoon. Luke Combs, a country music superstar, will be the picker and he also happens to be a North Carolina native and former App State student.

A show on Friday night in Green Bay and another show on Saturday night and yet he’s still squeezing in a GameDay appearance? Now that’s some serious dedication.

Although Combs dropped out in his final semester to pursue his country music career, he’s making the school proud as one of the best in the business.

And like all celebrity guest pickers, Combs is going to take the home team and he already admitted that in his tweet. He’ll follow up Glen Powell who was in Austin for Texas vs. Alabama and Jack Harlow who was in Columbus for Ohio State vs. Notre Dame — the latter did not have ties to the Buckeyes.

Combs is a solid choice here for App State vs. Troy because he’s a well-known name and people will tune in to see how much he knows ball.
