Nebraska football and Oklahoma will renew their rivalry on Saturday and here are three bold predictions for the Huskers.

There are few rivalries better in college football than Nebraska football and Oklahoma. At least there used to be.

But after realignment ruined everything, especially for Nebraska football, the Huskers moved on to having Colorado as their rival, before again changing to Iowa (now in the Big Ten).

For the first time in over a decade, Oklahoma will play Nebraska football at Lincoln Memorial Stadium and it’s a game with plenty of storylines.

We expected the Scott Frost storyline to dominate this game but he didn’t even make it that long, getting fired after losing to Georgia Southern last week.

Mickey Joseph has taken over and he’s tied for third in terms of odds of being the next Nebraska football head coach. A win on Saturday would surely help and here are three bold predictions, as well as a score prediction at the end for the Huskers and sixth-ranked Sooners.

The defense will be inspired and take the ball away twice

The Nebraska defense has been among the worst in all of college football. The Huskers are allowing 494 yards per game and gave up 652 yards last week against Georgia Southern.

It was a total embarrassment and it’s why Scott Frost was fired. Things just had to change and under Joseph, things will change for the better.

Will it be good enough to beat Oklahoma? That’s still a tall order but he took the Blackshirts away this week and the players will need to earn them back.

With all of the emotion of this rivalry and a charged-up Memorial Stadium, plus a new (interim) head coach, Nebraska will respond on defense. The Huskers will pressure Dillon Gabriel enough to force an interception and they’ll force a fumble.

Nebraska has focused on hitting more this week and my biggest prediction is that this defense will have more of an edge, which will lead to some impact plays.
