Here are three takeaways from Syracuse Football’s win against Purdue
Sophomore wide receiver Orande Gadsen II was the hero for the Syracuse Orange today, scoring two fourth-quarter touchdowns, including the game-winner with less than ten seconds left to go in the game. Gadsen’s first touchdown catch gave the Orange an 18-15 lead midway in the fourth quarter.
After Caleb Okechukwu returned an interception 17 yards for a touchdown, the Boilermakers answered with consecutive scores. Aidan O’Connell connected with Charlie Jones on a 55-yard touchdown pass, and then Payne Durham caught a 12-yard pass from O’Connell.
Syracuse quarterback Garrett Shrader then found Gadsen for the game-winner.
The game started rather slowly, with the Boilermakers taking a 9-3 lead to the locker room. Syracuse found the endzone for the first time in the third quarter when Schrader found Isaiah Jones for a short, 3-yard touchdown.
The Boilermakers had the right formula defensively most of the game. The Boilermakers held All-ACC running back Sean Tucker to 65 total yards and kept him out of the endzone. The Orange had Purdue’s number, holding them to nine first-half points and shutting them out in the third quarter.
Purdue quarterback Aidan O’Connell finished the game with 424 yards passing and three touchdowns.
