College Football Rankings 2022: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 4
Tennessee was expected to blow the doors off Akron in Week 3 and that’s exactly what the Volunteers did. The Volunteers were able to beat the Zips by about 50 points and they picked up their third win of the season. Unfortunately, this time, they’re going to stay around the same ranking and no one is going to overreact to this blowout win over a MAC foe.
Utah was up 21-0 at halftime against San Diego State and it felt like the Utes just cruised to an easy win over a team that was supposed to be solid to start the year. Cameron Rising and Kyle Whittingham have a good thing going in Salt Lake City this season.
We’re going to see Penn State rise drastically in the rankings this week, whether it’s warranted or not. The win at Auburn was both dominant and impressive, but the Tigers are one of the worst teams in the SEC this season. The Nittany Lions’ defense was smothering and Sean Clifford looked solid as they cruised to an easy win on the road. We’ll probably see an overreaction in the rankings this week.
I was not sure how to feel about this game, but NC State was able to hold on against a tough Texas Tech team at home and improve to 3-0 on the year. This was one of those “have to have it” wins and it won’t really impress a ton of people but beating an up-and-coming Texas Tech team was really a solid resume-builder.
Who saw Oregon dominating BYU after losing to Georgia by 46 points just two weeks earlier? Not me, but the Ducks looked really good against the nation’s 12th-best team. Bo Nix continues to impress me and prove me wrong. The Ducks went from No. 11 in the country to unranked to No. 25 and now back to No. 11. What a ride this has been.
