College Football Week 3 winners, losers: Pac-12 makes big statement
Loser: Spencer Rattler
Things continue to get worse for South Carolina QB Spencer Rattler. He was able to ease his way into things in his first regular season game vs Georgia State in Week 1, but since then he’s faced two teams that are currently ranked in the Top 10: Arkansas and Georgia.
Rattler was 13/25 for 118 yards, 0 TD, and 2 INT in the 48-7 loss to Georgia at home this week.
He’s thrown just two touchdowns so far in his career with South Carolina. He’s thrown five interceptions and been sacked nine times.
Adjusting to life in the SEC hasn’t been easy and it’s not going to get any better, unfortunately, for Rattler.
Loser: South Florida Bulls
With a chance to upset No. 18 Florida in The Swamp, South Florida squandered away their chance to pull off a spectacular upset.
Down three with 5:05 left in the game, the Bulls marched down the field and got within striking distance to tie or possibly upset the Florida Gators.
With 44 seconds remaining and the ball at Florida’s 19-yard line, a bad snap sent the ball rolling past QB Gerry Bohanon. A loss of 14 on the play, resulted in South Florida moving the ball back to the Gators’ 33. They had time for one more play that resulted in a one-yard gain.
With there being 28 seconds remaining in the game, being fourth down and 19 yards to gain, the Bulls opted to try and send the game into overtime with a 49-yard field goal attempt. It was no good and Florida escaped with the win.
The bad snap by the Bulls cost them a chance at pulling off a stunning upset against in-state foe Florida.
