2. Florida State Seminoles (3-0, 1-0)

The Florida State Seminoles won yet another close victory last Friday with their 35-31 win against the Louisville Cardinals on the road. Quarterback Tate Rodemaker came in relief of Jordan Travis, who suffered a leg injury in the fourth quarter. Rodemaker led the Seminoles on three 75-yard drives to lead Florida State to the win.

The ‘Noles winning these close games is not sustainable, but they are playing hard for head coach Mike Norvell. The defense has been solid, allowing less than six yards per play. Transfer defensive end Jared Verse looks like the real deal. The Seminoles play their next two games at home against Boston College and Wake Forest.

1. Clemson Tigers (3-0, 1-0)

Clemson has to like the continued progress of quarterback DJ Uiagalelei through three games this season. Running back Will Shipley helped the Tigers’ offense get past a slow start to defeat Louisiana Tech 48-20. The sophomore running back had a career-high 139 yards and two touchdowns.

Shipley is the first Clemson running back since 1950 with multiple rushing touchdowns in three consecutive games. The defense was ornery once again, allowing just 12 rushing yards with seven tackles for loss. The Tigers travel to #21 Wake Forest next week.
