Rose Bowl

Utah v Michigan

Nothing changes this week for the 109th Rose Bowl.

The Utah Utes continue to rebound from their devastating loss in week 1 at Florida. They crushed Southern Utah, and this week they overwhelmed San Diego St. 35-7. Quarterback Cam Rising continued his strong play, throwing for four touchdowns, while the defense nearly shut out the Aztecs. While USC is getting all the love and praise right now, Utah will need to be ready for an improving PAC-12. Utah will face five conference opponents over their next eight games that are a combined 14-1.

Michigan and their now-settled QB, J.J. McCarthy, have steamrolled over some of the worst in college football this season. The schedule doesn’t really pick up until the middle of October when they host a team we’ll be talking about a little later. In the meantime, this defense looks to have not lost a beat, and the offense is just manhandling teams so far.

With Cade McNamara out for an unknown amount of time, you have to think McCarthy will be the starting QB for the entire season. McCarthy will get the needed reps to get ready for the inevitable clash against Ohio State. A win there, and we’re talking about this Wolverines squad in a much different light.

Here, we are projecting the Wolverines to fall short in the Big Game, but make their way to the Rose Bowl. Does Harbaugh finally get the big bowl win, or does Utah get redemption from last year’s heartbreak?
