Sugar Bowl

Georgia v Texas

No changes this week in a rematch of the 2019 Sugar Bowl.

The Georgia Bulldogs continue to be displeased with where I put them in our bowl projections. After a 48-7 destruction on the road to South Carolina, the Bulldogs are on a roll and have clearly played the best football in the country through three weeks.

It is looking increasingly likely that Georgia will not be challenged until their road game at Kentucky. A win there, and it might not even matter their result in an inevitable SEC championship game against Alabama. I continue to stand firm in my belief that Georgia will end up on the outside looking in on the College Football Playoff.

The one question mark I had for the team last week was about the concerns over tight end Arik Gilbert. That has not changed, but it has not mattered as Brock Bowers was unstoppable at South Carolina.

While the Texas Longhorns escaped the emotional trap game after their near upset of Bama. Bijan Robinson made his Heisman push with 180 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-20 victory.

Sark has this team on the rise, but they are currently limited. Hudson Card, while a solid backup, is not the talent that Quin Ewers is. If Texas wants a shot against Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, they’ll need Ewers back. I still believe the Longhorns will remain in the Big 12 Championship hunt.

As we mentioned last week, this matchup would be a big deal to the people of Austin, but what about those in Athens?
