Neal Brown and WVU football are in a tough spot through three games. The Mountaineers are sitting at 1-2 after a couple of heartbreaking losses to Pitt and Kansas but Thursday’s road battle against a bad Virginia Tech team should help get everything back on track.

The Mountaineers probably should have beat the No. 17 Pitt Panthers back in Week 1 but they let a late lead slip away. They lost by a touchdown and then lost the following week to a much improved Kansas team by 13 at home in overtime — yes, a rare 13-point overtime loss.

West Virginia finally bounced back in Week 3 against Towson, 65-7.

This offense is capable of big things and I think we’ll see that on Thursday night as the Mountaineers travel to Virginia Tech. Let’s get bold.

3. CJ Donaldson rushes for 100 yards again

After moving over to running back from tight end this summer, freshman CJ Donaldson is looking like a true breakout star on the offensive side of the ball.

Through three games, he has two 100-yard outings and 274 total yards with six touchdowns on 9.4 yards per carry. And that includes a lackluster 48-yard performance against Kansas on 13 carries. Long story short: Donaldson is a stud.

The freshman running back is going to record his third 100-yard rushing game of the season but this will come against the third-best run defense in the nation. Virginia Tech has only allowed just over 120 yards rushing this entire season. but I see Donaldson matching that on Thursday night.
