Why the Tennessee football team will earn a rare win over the Florida Gators in Week 4 of the 2022 college football season

The Tennessee football team hosts the Florida Gators for one of the most highly anticipated SEC football games of the season on Sept. 24 at 3:30 PM ET on CBS.

This will be the first time these two teams have faced each other while both are ranked in the AP Top 25 since 2017. That year, the Vols were ranked No. 23, and Florida was ranked No. 24.

A combined nine points were scored in the first three quarters, then a hellacious fourth quarter saw a combined 37 points scored in the final stanza. Ultimately, the Gators were able to fend off the Vols and come out on top from an incredibly wild finish.

But that game, albeit a highly anticipated one, was a result that was pretty much on par for Tennessee. For the better part of the 21st century, the Gators have dominated the Vols, boasting an 18-4 record since 2000. Not to mention, Florida has won each of the last five meetings with Tennessee.

Fast forward to 2022 and things finally feel different for Tennessee. The Volunteers are ranked No. 11 in the country while Florida is ranked No. 20.

Here are three reasons why you should expect the Tennessee football team to get their first win over Florida since 2016.
