3. Florida will have a tough time moving the chains against Tennessee’s defense

The Tennessee Volunteers have given up just three total touchdowns this season and they all came in one game, against No. 17 Pittsburgh. They gave up only field goals to Akron and Ball State in their other two games this season.

A big reason why they’ve had such a staunch defense is because of CB Trevon Flowers. a fifth-year senior from Atlanta.

Flowers is the second-leading tackler on the team with 9 solo, 7 tackles, one sack, and one interception so far this season. Last season, the big-time corner had his best game of the season against Florida, racking up a team-leading 15 total tackles (6 solo tackles, 9 assisted)— almost double the number of the second-best defensive performer from that game, LB Jeremy Banks (8 total tackles).

Speaking of Banks, the hard-hitting linebacker is the top solo tackler on the team so far this season with 10. He’s also forced a fumble, adding to the team’s total of three forced fumbles this season.

Banks and that big defensive line are a big reason why the Vols are only allowing their opponents to record 83.3 rushing yards per game.

Expect the run-happy Florida Gators to have a tough afternoon against this Vols defense.
