Kansas Football: 3 Takeaways from home win against Duke
By Dante Pryor
Takeaways for Duke
The knock-on Duke coming into this game was their schedule. Duke had wins against Temple, Northwestern, and North Carolina A&T, while Kansas had been tested against West Virginia and Houston. Duke let everyone know they are a solid team despite the schedule.
The Blue Devils started slow but came on as the game went on. Duke began the game punting on two of its first three possessions. Back-to-back field goals brought the Blue Devils within one score at halftime.
Duke’s inability to score in the third quarter was the determining factor in this game.
Offensively, the Blue Devils were solid with over 400 yards of total offense. Duke took care of the football with no turnovers today, either. The running game did struggle some against Kansas’ defense. Quarterback Riley Leonard led the Blue Devils in rushing; much of those yards came in the fourth quarter and not during the game.
The Achilles’ heel for the Blue Devils was the defense. Kansas amassed over 500 yards of total offense, and Duke had nothing for the running game or the passing game of the Jayhawks.
