3. Texas A&M contained KJ Jefferson most of the game

The box score and team statistics do not tell the entire story of this game. Arkansas won the battle of the stats. The Razorbacks had more total yards, more first downs, and more total yards than Texas A&M. KJ Jefferson outplayed his counterpart Max Johnson the entire game. Texas A&M won because they kept Jefferson and the Razorbacks out of the endzone for nearly three quarters.

The Razorbacks scored on its first two possessions, and then they couldn’t find the endzone until late in the fourth quarter. Though the Razorbacks committed just one turnover, that turnover came inside the Aggies’ five-yard line and was returned for a touchdown. That was one of two double-digit play drives that yielded no points for Arkansas.

Texas A&M did an excellent job of preventing the big play. Jefferson and the passing game rely on its ability to push the ball down the field through the air or yards after the catch. The Razorbacks hit two big passing plays early in the game and nothing after that.

Jefferson had 105 rushing yards, 26 of those on one carry. Take away the one carry; Jefferson averaged just 4.3 yards per rush attempt.
