If you thought college football’s Week 4 was going to be tamer than the first three weeks, you were sadly mistaken.

The afternoon slate kicked everything off and it didn’t let us down. Wake Forest hosted Clemson in a game that no one thought would turn into a shootout but it did. Clemson went on to win in overtime 51-45 over the Demon Deacons in one of the most exciting games of the week. Who would have thought this game would have nearly touched 100 total points? Not me.

Georgia even struggled with Kent State in this noon time slot and Michigan had a tough time putting Maryland away. There were some surprising results from the afternoon games.

Then at 3:30 p.m. ET, we saw Florida go into Knoxville after winning 16 of the previous 17 games in the matchup and the Gators were taken down by Tennessee in a ranked battle. This should likely lead to the Gators being dropped from the rankings and AP voters may overreact to the Volunteers’ win. Texas also fell victim to an upset in this time slot as it went down to Lubbock and was served an ‘L’ by Texas Tech.

Oh, and Miami imploded at home against Middle Tennessee.

Arkansas and Texas A&M highlighted the evening games and it was a classic as seemingly all of the games in this rivalry are. The Aggies held on thanks to a wild missed field goal off the top of the uprights by Arkansas. Oklahoma wasn’t as lucky as Texas A&M as it fell in an ugly home loss to Kansas State.

Let’s just say, the Week 5 AP Top 25 is going to look vastly different.
