3. Todd Monken

Another name that makes a lot of sense is current Georgia offensive coordinator Todd Monken and not just because he’s coaching in close proximity to Tech.

It wouldn’t hurt to take a key piece of the coaching staff from one of the two truly elite programs in the country, especially Monken, who has coached in the NFL, the Big 12, the SEC, and had success as an offensive coordinator basically everywhere he’s gone.

Monken also has head-coaching experience with Southern Miss. He had two losing seasons but led the Golden Eagles to nine wins in his final year before leaving for the NFL.

He took over a Southern Miss program that was winless the year prior and in three years, won a division title. Furthermore, Monken is known for his offensive ingenuity and that sort of worked when the Yellow Jackets had Paul Johnson.

It was an entirely different system as Johnson ran the triple option, but the Yellow Jackets need a mad scientist type of coach and Monken could be that. Really great schemes are one way to close the talent gap and win with fewer blue chips so Monken and Tech could be a great fit.
