BYU football: 3 takeaways from Week 5 win over Utah State
1. Jaren Hall is so consistent it’s scary
It almost seems like Jaren Hall never has an off game. He never gets too high or too low and that’s why he’s one of the best quarterbacks in the country.
Hall finished the game 17-for-27 with 273 yards and three touchdowns and he was about as consistent as you could get. He had to carry the offense which struggled in the first half to run the ball and it ended up carrying him home to a win on the legs of Miles Davis and Christopher Brooks.
Coming into the game, Hall had 1,164 yards and 10 touchdowns with just one pick and he added to those numbers with nearly 300 yards and three more scores. Oh, and he continues to stay clean with the ball in his hands as he’s not a turnover machine like some quarterbacks can be.
If Hall continues this consistency throughout the remainder of the season and the Cougars go 11-1 or 10-2, we may be talking about him as a legitimate Heisman candidate. No one would have guessed it before the season, but if the Cougars are playoff hunting in November, Hall deserves some serious national recognition.
