Pac-12 football power rankings: USC survives scare, remains on top
By Dante Pryor
12. Colorado Buffaloes (0-4, 0-1)
With Scott Frost, Herman Edwards, and most recently Geoff Collins out at their respective schools, one has to wonder how long head coach Karl Dorrell has left in Boulder. Though he got the job very late in the cycle and had to deal with COVID, it has not worked out in Colorado. The Buffaloes need a builder, and Dorrell does not seem like that coach.
11. Arizona State Sun Devils (1-3, 0-1)
Speaking of people who might be on their way out, Arizona State athletic director Ray Anderson could be shown the door. Anderson might not be the person the Sun Devils’ administration wants to make the next football hire. One thing about the ASU job is it is an attractive situation; they really need to nail that hire, however.
10. Stanford Cardinal (1-2, 0-2)
If the Cardinal continues playing him, could David Shaw be on the hot seat at Stanford? Shaw is 12-21 in his last four seasons on The Farm. Those last four seasons coincide with the transfer portal and early signing period. With the changing landscape of college football, how seriously is Stanford about being a football powerhouse?
9. Arizona Wildcats (2-2, 0-1)
The Arizona Wildcats look like they are in a cycle of winning and losing. That could be something that is the norm for this season. Arizona looks good enough — especially offensively — to beat teams that have trouble scoring with them. However, that defense, which allowed 49 points and 599 yards to California could keep them from some wins.
