Florida State football: 3 reasons the Seminoles will beat Wake Forest
2. Florida State’s Jordan Travis might be hottest QB in college football
Junior quarterback Jordan Travis has been playing outstanding football this season for the Noles, registering a QBR of 87.2 on the season. His stats don’t immediately jump off the page with 945 passing yards, five touchdowns, and an interception entering Week 5.
But he’s only been sacked twice this season and he’s making great decisions with the football. He’s throwing long balls and connecting on them, registering passes of 39 or more yards at least once in every game this season.
PFF College gave him an 89.0 PFF grade while under pressure this season, which is first among all college quarterbacks. Additionally, his 92.2 grade from PFF is second-best among any quarterback in college football and the best in the ACC.
Travis is going to continue to play well and enjoy going up a Wake Forest defense that’s struggled to stop the pass the last two games, giving up 627 yards and seven touchdowns to opposing quarterbacks (Clemson and Liberty).
The Noles’ three-man running back committee of Treshaun Ward, Trey Benson, and Lawrance Toafili will be able to help draw attention from Wake Forest’s defense. These three backs have just steamrolled defenses this season for more than 700 yards and nine touchdowns.
