Michigan football outclassed the Hawkeyes in Kinnick Stadium this afternoon.

Everyone who watches Big Ten football knows the myth of Kinnick Stadium. The Iowa Hawkeyes have won five of its last six games against top-five opponents. One of those opponents was Michigan football in 2016. Jim Harbaugh’s assessment of Iowa at home was correct.

Kinnick is a place where top five teams go to die.

If the late Gorilla Monsoon were commentating on this game, he would say, “It’s the irresistible force against the unmovable object.” The Wolverines came into this game second in the nation, scoring fifty points per game. The Hawkeyes lead the nation in scoring defense, allowing 5.8 points per game. Suffice it to say; something had to give.

One thing that did not give in this game was Iowa’s issues on defense. The Hawkeyes did not score until early in the fourth quarter. Michigan did a masterful job of keeping Iowa’s defense on the field.

Michigan football running back Blake Corum paced the Wolverines’ offense with 133 yards and one rushing touchdown. Sometimes playing quarterback is about not making mistakes, and that is precisely what J.J. McCarthy did not make any mistakes, throwing no interceptions.

Great win for the Wolverines. Here are three takeaways from the game.
