After the first drive of the game, it felt like Washington was going to walk all over UCLA football on its way to yet another convincing win.

That wasn’t the case.

Following that early touchdown, the Bruins went on a 40-9 run to take a 40-16 lead in the third quarter before Washington finally ended the ugly stretch with a touchdown and two-point conversion to start the fourth. It was a two-possession game, but it always felt out of reach.

The Bruins played well enough to beat just about anyone on Friday night and it picked up a huge ranked win over the Huskies. What a statement win this was.

What’d we learn?

3. Jake Bobo really emerging as that No. 1 receiver

Coming into the year, no one really knew who was going to step up as Dorian Thompson-Robinson’s favorite target and the team’s No. 1 receiver. It looks like that’s Jake Bobo.

There was hope that the Duke transfer would emerge as the top target but there was no certainty surrounding him there as he would have to adjust to a brand new offense, but he looked like a clear No. 1 receiver on Friday night.

Bobo was clutch all night long when UCLA needed some yards on third down or just to keep the chains moving as he caught six passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns. He was the top receiver on the team heading into this game with Kazmeir Allen nipping on his heels, but there should be no question now.
