3 Underrated Games in College Football Week 6
2. Washington St at #6 USC
7:30 pm EST on Fox
Lincoln Riley has met, if not exceeded, every expectation set for his first year at USC so far. The Trojans are unbeaten and in a great position to win the Pac 12 and go to the College Football Playoff. Caleb Williams has been that great, throwing for 1,400 yards and 12 touchdowns on just one interception. Jordan Addison has carried over his success from Pitt, with six touchdown receptions in five games. Their defense has allowed less than 20 points per game, allowing them to win almost every game by a comfortable margin.
The one thing USC has yet to have this year is a top-tier opponent, which it will receive next week when they’ll travel to Salt Lake City to take on Utah.
Enter Washington State. The Cougars are 4-1, with their lone loss coming in a tough 44-41 finish against Oregon two weeks ago. This is only Washington State’s second road trip of the season, however, their first ended in a victory at Wisconsin. JuCo transfer quarterback Cameron Ward has been prone to mistakes, such as two interceptions in the endzone last week against Cal, however, he’s a talented player that, if he can play a clean game, is more than capable of leading the Cougars to an upset.
Washington State has largely flown under the radar this year but has the chance to change that this week. If USC is caught looking past the Cougars, we could see a major upset.
