2. Notre Dame football’s rushing attack

Notre Dame is coming off a game against North Carolina where they ran the ball extremely well. The Irish ran for 287 yards against the Tar Heels.

BYU has an impressive defensive unit, but at the same time their weakness is stopping the run. The Cougars defense comes into this matchup against Notre Dame as the 93rd best team in the country stopping the run. Utah State was able to run for 204 yards last week, and Oregon was able to run for 212 yards against BYU a few weeks ago.

The Irish have a strong trio of running backs in Audric Estime, Chris Tyree, and Logan Diggs. Estime is coming off his best game in blue and gold rushing for 134 yards on 17 carries, and two touchdowns.

Their three running backs allow them to rotate in and out to stay fresh out there on the field. The offensive line seems to finally be playing as a unit really opening up the holes for the backs which should continue on Saturday.

Notre Dame will able to run the ball to set up the pass when the time is right. Running the ball successfully allows Rees and the offense to burning clock and keep Hall and the BYU offense on the sideline.
