College Football Week 6: Predicting top 5 games against the spread
No. 11 Utah (-3.5) at No. 18 UCLA (3:30 EST, Fox)
Not many people expected this to be a top matchup in College Football Week 6 when the schedule came out but you have the give Chip Kelly and the Bruins credit.
Dorian Thompson-Robinson is playing exceptional and had 315 yards last week to go along with three touchdowns in a win over a ranked Washington team. Bruins running back Zach Charbonnet has also been stellar with three 100-yard games. He also leads the Pac-12 in total yards from scrimmage.
Yet, the Bruins haven’t seen a defense quite like Utah’s. Kyle Whittingham has the Utah defense leading the Pac-12 in scoring and yards allowed. The Utes forced four turnovers against Oregon State and scored a defensive touchdown.
The game is in Pasadena but it’s never been a great home-field advantage for the Bruins. Cameron Rising is having to do a lot for the Utes, but the offense is ranked 11in scoring with 42 points per game. Utah averages over 200 yards per game rushing and passing.
And with their defense, I see the defeating them Bruins by double digits.
Score: Utah 38, UCLA 27
