UCLA football knocked off Utah, in what was its second straight win over a ranked team, and here are three takeaways for the Bruins and Utes.

If the college football world isn’t taking the UCLA Bruins seriously, it needs to after an impressive 42-32 win over Utah.

UCLA football is now 6-0 and already bowl eligible. Remember when getting to a bowl game was hard to do? It doesn’t seem like it was that long ago and it’s safe to say that Chip Kelly’s rebuilding job has worked, even if it took a little longer than expected.

A few weeks ago, fans mocked UCLA for celebrating its close win over South Alabama. Who’s laughing now after wins over ranked teams in consecutive weeks? The Bruins have gotten the last laugh and here are three takeaways from the 42-32 win over the defending Pac-12 champions.

UCLA isn’t an afterthought in the Pac-12

The Bruins have a really important game next week against Oregon but with the win over the Utes, UCLA football has a legitimate chance of reaching the Pac-12 title game.

USC is the team that will likely stand in the way but there’s a good chance that the Bruins and Trojans’ crosstown game could have a large bearing on who plays for the Pac-12 title. Next week’s game against Oregon will too since the divisions are eliminated.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson played a whale of a game against Utah and threw for 299 yards and four touchdowns. Zach Charbonnet has continued to improve and against one of the best defenses in the Pac-12, the Bruins dominated.

Charbonnet ran for 198 yards and while the defense gave up a bunch of yards too, Utah has one of the best quarterbacks in the country and the Bruins still led by three scores early in the fourth quarter.
