Gut reactions to College Football Week 6: Surprise teams shine, Oklahoma hits rock bottom
Surprise teams look legit
TCU was one of the teams looking to prove it’s a contender in the Big 12 and the Horned Frogs did just that with their road win over Kansas. The Jayhawks battled and it came down to the wire but TCU made just enough plays to win the game.
Max Duggan was spectacular last week against the Sooners and followed it up by going 23-of-33 for 308 yards and three touchdowns including the game-winner against Kansas. The Horned Frogs will get a chance to find out just how good they are this next week as they will take on Oklahoma State, which is still unbeaten.
The Cowboys had some trouble with Texas Tech and the Horned Frogs’ offense is as good as it gets in college football, so next week should be interesting.
Oklahoma State didn’t really prove anything this week but Tennessee looked like the real deal again thanks to a 40-13 win over LSU. That’s three wins over ranked teams for the Vols, who have a bona-fide Heisman Trophy contender in Hendon Hooker.
UCLA also beat the defending Pac-12 champions in Utah and did so by double-digits in a game that wasn’t as close as it looked. The Bruins are a team to watch in the Pac-12, just like TCU (Big 12) and Tennessee (SEC).
