College Football Rankings 2022: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 7
Cincinnati beat a bad South Florida team on Saturday afternoon, but did it really feel like a win? Not really. Cincinnati trailed at halftime and then took a small lead in the third quarter but it ended up being way closer than it should have been. Honestly, I don’t know how, but the Bearcats will remain ranked. They shouldn’t, but they will.
I have a hard time seeing Kansas go unranked after losing a close one against a team ranked higher and that was favored, especially with Jalon Johnson going down with an injury. Lance Leipold’s team is way ahead of schedule and I can see them bouncing back next week. They should stay somewhere in the 20-25 range.
Baylor was receiving the second-most votes outside of the AP Top 25 last week and despite a bye, I think we’ll see the Bears jump back into the rankings.
James Madison is about to become America’s favorite cinderella story this season as they are just dominating in their first season as an FBS program. They are now 5-0 on the season, beating Arkansas State by 22 on Saturday. The Dukes may win the Sun Belt this year. That would really be something. Rank this team, you cowards.
Does Utah drop completely out of the Top 25 after losing to UCLA on the road? I don’t think so although there will probably be a number of voters opting for that route. The Utes just have too much talent to continue to lose. I think we’ll see them in the low-20s on Sunday when the new rankings are released.
