Sugar Bowl

Tennessee v Oklahoma State

Previous: Kentucky v Oklahoma State

We have another change in our projections for the Sugar Bowl. Welcome to the NY6 party for the first time since 2009, the Volunteers of Tennessee.

As Kentucky’s hope for a magical season come off the rails because they can’t protect their star QB, the Volunteers are lighting up the scoreboards all over the SEC.

The LSU Tigers were the most recent victim of the offensive juggernaut led by Heisman contender Hendon Hooker and head coach Josh Heupel. Tennessee walked into Death Valley, and made quick work of the Tigers, winning 40-13.

This magical season in Knoxville will reach its most pivotal moment, as they host Alabama this Saturday. A win, and Tennessee may be able to make the College Football Playoff even with a loss at Georgia in a few weeks, thus avoiding the SEC championship rematch with Bama. For now, we got the Sugar Bowl as Tennessee’s destination.

Meeting the Volunteers in New Orleans are the Cowboys of Oklahoma State. The Cowboys took down Texas Tech last week, and will now travel to TCU in what may be the game of the year in the Big 12. A win by Oklahoma State and they too are in the CFP discussion. A loss and they’ll still be in the Big 12 title hunt.

In a battle between two teams that could easily end up making the playoffs, we get to see two fantastic quarterbacks and two head coaches with Oklahoma ties in the Sugar Bowl
