ACC Football Power Rankings: Georgia Tech has found life, Clemson dominates
By Dante Pryor
10. Virginia Tech Hokies (2-4, 1-2)
Hokies head coach Brent Pry knew he had a significant rebuild in front of him when he left Penn State for Blacksburg. Former head coach Justin Fuente did the program that legendary coach Frank Beamer built no favors. Also, Beamer made that job look easier than it is. Blacksburg is closer to Tennesee than the Atlantic Coast, and it is not easy to get to. Hopefully, the administration will give Pry time to build.
9. Duke Blue Devils (4-2, 1-1)
After a fast 3-0 start, the Blue Devils have lost two of its last three games. Their loss to Georgia Tech was a surprise given how well Duke had played and how poorly Tech had played leading up to the game. Head coach Mike Elko has to know that the offense has to be better than 273 total yards if they want to contend in the ACC Football’s Coastal Division.
8. Florida State Seminoles (4-2, 2-2)
The Seminoles have lost two straight conference games after its 19-17 loss to #14 NC State. The Seminoles will drive you batty if you let them. However, pull back the layers and understand just where this program was when Jimbo Fisher left, and you will know that seven wins would be a successful season.
7. Pittsburgh Panthers (4-2, 1-1)
Can someone tell Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi that he was not dreaming about the Virginia Tech game but was awake, and the game did happen? Though it was the game of his dreams, running back, Israel Abanikanda did run for 320 yards and all six of the Panthers’ touchdowns in its 45-29 win against the Hokies. They might be able to play that way again at Louisville.
