Texas football wins a close 24-21 slugfest against the Iowa State Cyclones:

As the Texas Longhorns took the field today, they, along with head coach Steve Sarkisian had to have the three-game losing streak on their minds. The Longhorns need to win games like these as Sarkisian, and the Longhorns continue to build and improve. Playing Iowa State means it will be a physical, grind-it-out sort of game.

The Longhorns needed to prove they could win a close game with a defensive stand and with their best players not playing their best games. Texas came through, snapping their three-game losing streak against the Cyclones 24-21 at Darrell K. Royal Stadium.

Heisman candidate Bijan Robinson led the Longhorns with 171 total yards, keeping the Cyclones from playing two deep safeties. Quarterback Quinn Ewers did not put up big numbers, throwing for just 172 yards, but he threw for three touchdowns.

The Texas defense was stout, limiting the Cyclones to just 74 yards rushing. Cyclones quarterback Hunter Dekkers played one of his best games of the season, throwing for 329 yards and two touchdowns. Receiver Xavier Worthy had a big game with 154 receiving yards.

This game came down to a controversial fumble late in the game and a possible targeting call that was not reviewed.

Here are three more takeaways from the Texas football home win.
