Michigan football is the real deal

Maybe Jim Harbaugh wasn’t joking when he said he was coming back to Michigan football to chase a national championship.

The Wolverines were expected to be really good this season. However, there was a lot of talk about how soft the schedule was before Big Ten play and that was legit. But the Wolverines have passed two of the biggest tests so far on the schedule.

Michigan football beat Iowa a couple of weeks ago on the road, but more impressively, blew out Penn State on Saturday. It’s rare when you say that 41-17 doesn’t describe the beatdown that took place but it’s true.

The Wolverines picked up 418 yards on the ground and it’s clear how Michigan football thinks it can win the Big Ten title again — playing the same old bully ball.

Michigan’s defense hasn’t dropped off either. Penn State scored just 10 points (got a pick-six) and the Wolverines answered a lot of questions. They still need to show they can beat Michigan State and the Illinois game is looming much larger, but right now, it feels like the Big Ten has gotten back to being the Big Two (Michigan, Ohio State) and everyone else.
