Nobody wants an angry Nick Saban. Mississippi State drew the misfortune of getting that tonight. While the game wasn’t as bad as it could have been, it certainly wasn’t good for the Bulldogs, as they took a 30-6 drubbing against the Crimson Tide. As both teams look to wake up and review the good and bad from this game, here are three things we can all take away from tonight.

1. Alabama’s Defense is Still Legit

Tennessee’s 52 points were the most Alabama had given up in the Nick Saban era. Hendon Hooker lit up the Crimson Tide secondary, throwing for 385 yards and five touchdowns. With a pass-happy offense coming to town as a follow-up, it was entirely possible we’d see something similar.

We did not. Will Rogers, who had completed close to 70% of his passes coming into tonight, was just 29-60 (48%) for 230 yards and no touchdowns.

One of the top statistical quarterbacks in the country held to an incredibly mediocre game. The defense also made plays when it needed to, forcing three turnovers on downs, and adding a fumble recovery to the mix.

It was an incredible performance from an incredible defense, shutting out Mississippi State until the final play of the game. The defense is fine and should look like its usual self going forward.
