College Football Rankings 2022: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 9
Michigan was one of two top-five teams to get a bye this week and it comes at the perfect time for Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines as they host rival Michigan State next weekend.
While the Spartans aren’t very good this season, they always give Michigan their best shot and Mel Tucker is, in fact, 2-0 against the Wolverines.
JJ McCarthy will get his first start in this rivalry game and he’ll look to exact revenge from last year when his two fumbles were costly in the 37-33 loss in East Lansing. He’s been rolling since being named starter and the running game has really carried this offense with Blake Corum emerging as a legit Heisman candidate.
The Wolverines look like 1B to Ohio State’s 1A in the Big Ten this season but Harbaugh has proven he can win a game against the Buckeyes.
I do think, however, the Wolverines drop a spot since Clemson picked up a top-15 win. Nothing against Michigan, just the nature of the rankings.
