College Football Rankings 2022: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 9

Do I think Texas stays ranked after losing its third game of the season? Yes, and let me tell you why. There weren’t any unranked teams that really deserved to jump into the AP Top 25 other than LSU. Texas played well enough to beat Oklahoma State on the road, but came up just short. This is still a top 25 team.

Tulane was one of the surprise teams to make the AP Top 25 last week and the Green Wave had no problem with Memphis on Saturday afternoon, jumping out to a huge lead and really cruising to a nice win. They’ll remain in that 20-25 range this week.

I’m not so sure that NC State really deserves to be in the AP Top 25 after losing to Syracuse last week and looking a little more overrated by the day, but Devin Leary wasn’t healthy so that explains why the Wolfpack struggled. This is still one of the better ACC teams, but the conference is very top heavy.

After holding a lead for most of the game, TCU snatched it back from Kansas State in the third quarter. No matter the result of this game, Chris Klieman has to feel good about the rebuild in Manhattan. The future is so bright at Kansas State.

North Carolina got a bye this week after storming into the AP Top 25 despite struggling against App State and Georgia State before a Notre Dame loss earlier in the year. This team is rolling and Mack Brown is channeling his inner 2020 self when the Tar Heels shocked everyone and went to the Orange Bowl.
