Ole Miss will drop out of the top 10 this week after a tough road loss to LSU and this was just proof that it’s nearly impossible to win in Death Valley against even a decent LSU team. Lane Kiffin’s team was just lost after bursting out to a 17-3 lead but they’ll bounce back from this one. I think the 10-15 range is about right.

UCLA is another team that’s going to drop out of the top 10 this week after a double-digit road loss, but the Bruins still have a legit shot to win the Pac-12 title. This was just their first loss of the season. Still, they didn’t look all that great against Oregon as the Ducks controlled this one.

Utah got a bye week after an emotional win over a top-10 USC team last week and they got a nice injection of life after the upset. Utah looked dead in the water after a couple of tough losses through the first six weeks of the year, but that Week 7 upset was massive for title hopes. The Utes are the highest-ranked two-loss team in the nation.

Penn State found itself down 3-0 and then 10-3 against Minnesota on Saturday night but the Nittany Lions dominated from that point on, taking a 31-10 lead in the third quarter and never looked back. This game was decided early in the second half and Penn State bounced back nicely after a loss to Michigan last weekend.

USC had a bye week but the Trojans probably needed to regroup after losing in heartbreaking fashion to Utah in Week 7. Caleb Williams and this offense will get back on track after the bye and make one final push for one of those playoff spots in the last month of the year.
