The Oklahoma State football team knocked off Texas thanks to some fourth-quarter heroics from Spencer Sanders and here are three takeaways from a thrilling win.

What a game. This was a season-defining game for both teams, with conference championship implications and beyond on the line. In one corner, 5-2, No. 20 Texas, who has a healthy Quinn Ewers, who the Longhorns had yet to lose with. In the other corner, 5-1, No. 11 Oklahoma State football, fresh off of a heartbreaking loss to unbeaten TCU.

In what was a battle from start to finish, Oklahoma State scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to hold off Texas 41-34.

Texas had opportunities, but made critical mistakes throughout the game, capped off by a late Quinn Ewers interception with under two minutes left in the game. As we look back on what all happened, there are many things to take away. Here are three of the most glaring observations.

1. Spencer Sanders is That Guy

We need to show Spencer Sanders some love. He’s not a guy that’s really flirting with Heisman boards, nor seeing a ton of buzz for national accolades. Outside of the Big 12, he’s largely unknown.

Yet, Sanders is a legit dual-threat quarterback, with almost 2,000 total yards and 21 touchdowns this season. Sanders continued to display his talents against Texas, throwing for 391 yards and two touchdowns and adding 43 yards on the ground.

He did this in spite of his lingering shoulder injury,  the constant hits, and the pressure to come back in order to keep the Cowboys’ postseason hopes alive.

This was topped off in their final drive, when he led OSU 72 yards in six plays to take the lead, including a 41-yard touchdown pass to Bryson Green to finish it. Sanders certainly has that dog in him and deserves to be nationally appreciated.
