Miami’s debacle against Duke

If we were putting together a list of college football head coaches in new places that have disappointed the most, Mario Cristobal would be at or near the top of the list.

No one expected him to bring Miami back to a national-championship level overnight, but the ACC is wide open for the taking. Just look at Syracuse. Clemson is the team to beat and the Tigers are very beatable right now.

Just not by Miami. The Hurricanes started fine against the Blue Devils, grabbing an early lead but it was quickly 17-7. Duke also scored the last 21 points of the game in the fourth quarter as the Blue Devils pulled away for their fifth win.

Miami is now 3-4 and needs to pull out some wins of their own in order to reach a bowl game. The hot seat isn’t about to get super hot or anything for Cristobal, but it’s amazing how quickly the goodwill fades and by next season’s, if he hasn’t started winning, he should be worried.
