Heisman Trophy watch 2022: Top 5 candidates heading into Week 9
Heading into week 9 of the college football season, here is our latest update on the 2022 Heisman Trophy race.
We are getting set for an important week of the college football season and in the race for the 2022 Heisman Trophy.
C.J. Stroud will get a chance to play well in a big game. He wasn’t great against Notre Dame and the Irish ended up not being very good after all, so the Buckeye QB still is missing that Heisman Trophy moment we are so accustomed to seeing.
Is it going to happen against Penn State? Surely, throwing for 300-400 yards and 5-6 touchdowns as Stroud has been prone to do, against the Nittany Lions would open some eyes. Just like it did for Blake Corum when he went off against Penn State, a team that crushed Minnesota last week.
Hendon Hooker also has a big game against Kentucky which is another top-20 matchup for the Vols and the fifth that has featured Tennessee and its opponent as a ranked team.
Hooker has played well in all of these games and that’s why last week, he was tied with Stroud for the lead in our ranking of 2022 Heisman Trophy Contenders.
We will look back on last week and ahead to week 9 of the college football season as we rank our top five 2022 Heisman Trophy candidates once again.
5. Blake Corum, Michigan
Some Michigan fans might be bothered by the fact that Corum dropped from third to fifth during the bye week but that’s life.
Corum will have a chance to put his name right back into the mix with Michigan State looming on Saturday. The Spartans aren’t as good as they were last year, but a ton of people are going to watch the game and if Corum could go off for a huge game, he’ll improve his chances.
There are just a lot of worthy Heisman Trophy candidates for 2022 and Max Duggan of TCU is one of those guys.
