There are a lot of criticisms about Big 12 Football: there are no dominant teams, and they’ll likely cannibalize one another so no team gets into the playoff. Those critiques are valid but the “any given Saturday” feel of the Big 12 makes it the most entertaining conference in college football every Saturday.
Let’s be clear, the Big 12 is far from perfect but imperfection is entertaining. TCU’s comeback against Kansas State — though aided by the Wildcats playing their third-string quarterback — was entertaining. Oklahoma State’s defense got off the bus in time for the second half and shut down Texas’ offense in their 41-34 win in Stillwater.
This weekend’s slate of games should be just as good. #9 Oklahoma State looks to keep pace with #7 TCU when they travel to Manhattan to play #22 Kansas State. Wildcats’ quarterback Adrian Martinez is a game-time decision with backup Will Howard ready to play.
So, to showdowns in sunflowers and knowing that the eyes of Texas are watching, here are the Big 12 football power rankings heading into week nine.
